The Cyprus Basketball Federation (“CBF”) have finalised a partnership with Sportradar Integrity Services that will see the leader in anti-matchfixing detection, education and intelligence services provide its Fraud Detection System coverage across Cypriot basket matches including Division A championship and Cup.

Speaking about the partnership, Cyprus Sports Organisation (CSO) President of BoD Kleanthis Georgiades said: We welcomed the agreement between the two sides, stressing that the Organization will continue to be on the side of the Cyprus basketball, and Cypriot sport in general. The chairman of the CSO also said that “with this collaboration we essentially unite forces to combat match manipulation, thus closing the door to illegal, and abusive persons who want to take advantage of the sport for easy profit.”

Speaking about the partnership, CBF President Louis Demetriou said: “For us it was obvious that when it comes to basketball and integrity, the team of Sportradar’s Integrity Services are the experts and we are delighted that they will be bringing their award-winning and CAS-endorsed Fraud Detection System to our Cypriot basketball courts. We are pioneers adopting the FDS, as we strongly wish to recognise and celebrate incredible skills, tremendous effort and honest competition on our basketball courts: this partnership will help the CBF continue to showcase these qualities and along with CSO we will do our best to protect our sport”.

Sportradar Integrity Services Managing Director Andreas Krannich added: “Some federations believe that they escape the interest of matchfixers and so fail to put defences in place. Fans of Cypriot basketball should be grateful that their Federation is on the front foot and is not willing to gamble with the integrity of their competitions. I think we should also thank the Cyprus Sport Organisation, who took the initiative and introduced us to the CBF. Now that Cyprus have signed the Macolin Convention, we see this partnership as a concrete step in bringing the Cypriot stakeholders together and we hope we will get the chance to support the National Platform as it begins to take shape and as we work hard to protect the integrity of sports across Cyprus and Europe”.
