Sportradar speaks at Sport & Betting Conference 2013
On Wednesday, 14th November, leading sports industry figures, betting experts, lawyers, market analysts and pioneers in promoting integrity were brought together in London for the Sport & Betting Conference 2013.
The conference examined what international efforts are being taken to combat the manipulation of sports fixtures and events. The fact that the Council of Europe has been seeking to draft an international convention, and the European Commission and United Nations have been both keen to establish protocols, shows that the relationship between sport and gambling is an increasingly controversial one.
Andreas Krannich, Sportradar’s Managing Director Strategy and Integrity, made a speech on “Match-Fixing / Efforts in Combating Fixture Manipulation”, giving a general overview about betting monitoring and manipulation detection systems, using the example of Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System (FDS).
Further topics discussed included:
- Self-regulation or imposed regulation for international betting?
- International integrity efforts at EU Level
- The future of regulation
- Updates from key betting markets
- A year in sport betting
