Lega Pro’s Integrity Tour 2013 kicks off in Trapani
On the 14 February 2013, Lega Pro hosted at the Palazzo Milo, in Trapani, the opening conference of its Integrity Tour 2013. This initiative of the Lega Pro, launch in 2012, consists of a cycle of educative workshops with the Italian second and third division clubs, involving public authorities and police forces, on a tour throughout the Italian territory.
The main topics of the debates were the fight against sports fraud, the establishment of Lega Pro’s Code of Ethics as well as Lega Pro’s activities promoted in collaboration with Sportradar.
Lega Pro CEO Francesco Ghirelli said: “Knowing the way in which criminal gangs approach the clubs is crucial to successfully fighting them. Thanks to these educational programmes throughout the Italian territory we reduced 65 per cent of the number of matches suspected of being manipulated during last season; and in the current second and third division championships, no suspicious match has been reported so far.
“Lega Pro, together with the German Bundesliga, was among the first professional football leagues in Europe to establish a permanent office in-house fully dedicated to monitor, educate and prevent sports fraud. Our work is not limited to players, but also to the referees, club managers and young players.”
